Narrative Description of the Project:
Global Breastfeeding Week is commemorated every year from August 1-7 in the focused areas of Balochistan. The main aims is to create awareness about the importance of breastfeeding for infant and young children. Demographic Health Survey states only 23% people in Pakistan practice exclusive breastfeeding up to the age of six months the Pakistan is still following one of the lowest exclusive breastfeeding practices in the world. The four basic elements of infant and young children feeding include strengthening health systems, legislation/policy, community and improving the drawing attention to the need for creating an enabling and facilitative environment for mothers to breastfeed their children.SCAP – Balochistan acknowledges the efforts of Nutrition Cell Quetta Balochistan for the technical and financial support and UNICEF Balochistan for providing trainings to SCAP facilitators on the event.
